A gris gris is a medicine or amulet thought to bring good luck/health in some African, Islamic, Haitian and Cajun cultures. While it’s usually a small sack filled with protective writings and other odds and ends worn by the person wanted to be protected/healed, the word itself is used in Cajun culture to represent most anything that brings good tidings in a spiritual way.
