    Not remotely helpful, Glasses Person!

Doc intrigues me — though I do have a thing for fine older gentlemen …

His text looks different from the others’. Narrower. I wonder if this is a deliberate difference or just trying to fit in the speech bubbles?

That would actually be an intentional difference! We’re so glad you noticed.

Should we imagine a special kind of voice? 😮

It’s thin and long. Maybe something icy or robotic?

The font is a little “off” on purpose, so probably just something a little “off” and crisper. In actuality, a lot of our characters have different accents and tones, but we like to leave a lot of that up to readers’ imaginations. 🙂

As Pryl commented last page, aye, the doctor was at the funeral…and one of the ones who had caught my attention, what with his stiff posture, staring at the camera(/Arthur?), and turning his head toward C.E. without breaking eye contact.

One part of my brain is bouncing around thinking “robot!” while another is responding “that’s silly, everything’s been supernatural…doc’s just a bit robotIC.” I imagine his white eyes and hair are something to take note of, but I can’t think of what relevance they would have quite yet.

Another clue might be that he isn’t actually checking Arthur’s pulse, where his fingers are — or, rather, a normal human wouldn’t be able to do it, that way.
Given the artist and author’s attention to detail, I doubt that’s just a mistake!

Someone also pointed out, further down, that his get-up under the funeral wear is pretty outdated.
Something’s up. My guess is that he’s one of the original doctors who helped with the vampire case mentioned earlier. Somewhere along the way he either found a means to immortality of a sort, or just straight up died. Maybe he’s a revenant or ghost with the ability to detect life force at a touch?

I’m pretty sure it’s CE taking his pulse. Doc has gloves on in the first panel and the hand taking the pulse has a gray sleeve, not black like Doc is wearing.

Ouch! Sounds like Mary’s the one who needs the ice bath…

I don’t think a doctor has worn a double breasted white shirt since 1952. Imma thinking this doctor is older than he looks. And deader.

C.E., Your poorly timed and unnecessary sass to our little Mary doesn’t make You any more endearing.

I’ve been following Chaos Life for quite some time now (Read: Crazy cat lady squeeing over the adorable (and asshole-ness) of Konstantin and Potato Peter) and and I am going crazy how I’ve missed Find Chaos’ link–it’s just right there!!! This comic is just pure awesome, you two. I finished 10 chapters in one sitting. Please add more.. hope you get to release a printed version of this soon. :3

I do not know if it is the result of your Patreon’s success (Yay for you!) or just how it went, but the level of detail increased quite a lot to me since the last few pages. I mean, the shadow and light, the facial expressions… The atmosphere is singular.

Thank you so much! And it is indeed a large part because of our Patreon’s success. We’ve had more time to devote to the comics, so we don’t have to rush things just to meet deadlines. While we love to pour all of our efforts into our comics, there has always been only so much time with a day/week/month to divvy up between projects, so having less of our finances dependent on outside ventures means more of that finite time can go into pages like these. We’re so grateful to our supporters for letting us flex a little more!

I read this all today and I made a legitimate wounded sound when I realized I had caught up already! It’s all so wonderful. I’m hooked, emotionally invested. Arthur in particular is an absolute favorite; trying for morality among all of the twisted things he’s had to do and the hatred he’s bearing, trying to do the right thing but acknowledging what he does wrong, the weird complexity of his feelings about everything and everyone… Mary is also lovely, but Arthur just sort of strikes me. And I adore Gaki, because he’s an absolute love. I’d really like to find out more about Remi. He’s hard to read. Wow. I’m hooked, this is ridiculous, this happened too quickly for me.
